Kyra Dalbo of Marlins of Raleigh Chooses Davidson College for Fall 2021

NEW COMMIT: Davidson College has received an in-state verbal commitment for the fall of 2021 from distance freestyle specialist Kyra Dalbo of Cary, N.C.

She told Swimming World:

“I couldn’t be more proud and excited to finally announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Davidson College!! Dalbo, who does her club swimming with Marlins of Raleigh, earned three best times at an August intrasquad meet after placing 14th in the mile at Cary Sectionals. She had a trio of top-16 finishes at North Carolina Seniors in February and raced to eighth place in the 200 fly at the ATOM Invitational in December.

In summer 2019, she recorded six best times at North Carolina LCM Seniors before going on to finish third in the 400m IM and sixth in the 400m free/800m free/200m fly at Southern Zone Age Groups.

Her best times include:

500 free – 5:07.78
1000 free – 10:31.33
1650 free – 17:24.81
200 fly – 2:07.69
200 IM – 2:08.82
400 IM – 4:32.43

Also competing for Green Hope High School, Dalbo competed at the North Carolina 4A State Championships during her sophomore season. As a junior, she finished 10th in the 500 free and 11th in the 200 IM at the NCHSAA 4A Central Regional Championships.

Dalbo will add much-needed distance depth to the Wildcats’ roster when she arrives on campus as a member of the Class of 2025. She would’ve been their fastest 1000 freestyler and miler last season, and Davidson finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships.
