Krisztian Takacs Blazes to Top Five in World Rankings at Hungary National Championships
Krisztian Takacs dashed to first in finals of the men’s 50-meter free with a 21.89 during day seven of the Hungary National Championships, earning himself the fifth place ranking in the world for 2015. Richard Bohus took second with a 22.62, while Peter Holoda finished third overall with a 23.19.
Top Ten World Rankings: Men’s 50 Free
[table “” not found /]The women’s 50-meter free was a close race in prelims with the top three women posting times within .06 seconds of each other. Silvia Di Pietro claimed first with a time of 26.07, while Giorgia Biondani finished close behind with a 26.09. Erika Ferraoli rounded out the top three with a 26.13.
Di Pietro maintained her lead in semi-finals with a 25.12, dropping .95 seconds from prelims. Ferraoli moved up to the second-place seed with a 25.25, while Biondani took third with a 25.44.
Niccolo Bonacchi grabbed the lead in the men’s 50-meter back touching with a time of 25.55. Richard Bohus was second with a 26.26, while Martin Badura rounded out the top three with a 26.49.
Bonacchi held onto the lead with a 25.70 in semi-finals, but it was Yousef Ahmed Abdall Mohamed who took the second-place seed with a time of 26.06. Bonus was a close third with a 26.08.
Prelims of the women’s 50-meter breaststroke were led by Anna Sztankovics who posted a 32.79 to grab the first-place seed. Sara Gyertyanffy grabbed the second-place seed with a 32.91. Dalma Sebestyen was third with a 33.08.
Sebestyen moved up to the first-place seed in semi-finals after posting a 32.10. Gyertyanffy maintained second with a 32.26, and Sztankovics slid to third with a 32.29.
Gergely Gyurta finished ahead of the competition in prelims of the men’s 1500-meter free with a time of 15:12.55. Kristof Rasovszky was second with a time of 15:36.59, while Peter Bernek rounded out the top three with a 15:38.49.
Elena Gemo won the women’s 50-meter fly with a quick 26.29, creating a three-way tie for nineteenth in the world rankings with Samantha Corea of Canada and Rikako Ikee of Japan. Di Pietro finished second overall with a time of 26.48, while Evlyn Verraszto was third with a 26.92.
Zsuzsanna Jakabos posted a final time of 2:11.53 to claim the win in the women’s 200-meter back. Katalin Burian was second with a final time of 2:12.50, while Reka Gyorgy finished third with a 2:13.60.
The men’s 100-meter fly went to Laszlo Cseh who touched with a 52.49 to claim the win. Bence Pulai took second with a time of 52.99, while Bence Biczo was third overall with a 54.08.
Boglarka Kapas continued her dominance over the distance free events with a final time of 8:39.07to claim the win in the women’s 800-meter free. Second went to Janka Juhasz who touched with a time of 8:40.64, while Bettina Boszormenyi rounded out the top three with an 8:42.80.
