Kredich Departs Richmond for Tennessee

RICHMOND, Va., May 2. TENNESSEE’S gain is Richmond’s loss. That much was determined when the Volunteers tabbed Matt Kredich as their new women’s swimming coach. Kredich had guided Richmond to four consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference championships.

In accepting the head job at Tennessee, Kredich filled the void left by the resignation of Dan Colella. Kredich built an impressive resume during his stint at Richmond, as he was Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year each of the past four years. He also led the Spiders to 50 event victories in conference-championship competition.

Returning 19 athletes for the 2005-06 season, including sprinter Brooke Boncher, Richmond has started to conduct a national search for Kredich’s replacement.
