Stanford’s Katie Ledecky expressed satisfaction with her win in the 800 free to start off the Phillips 66 National Championships in Irvine. Ledecky didn’t realize she was under world record pace early in the race, and said she didn’t feel too fast in the water.

Ledecky expressed tremendous excitement over her teammate Katie Drabot getting second in the 200 fly final and said she “pretty much knew” she was going to get on the Pan Pac team.

Ledecky said she didn’t even watch Drabot’s swim since she was putting her suit on, that is how confident she was in Drabot making the team.
