NEW COMMIT: Farmington, Mich. native Trevor Jones has opted to stay in-state for his college career after verbally committing to Michigan State University for the fall of 2021.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Michigan State University. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, friends and family who have helped me come this far in the sport. Go Green!”

A talented butterflyer, IMer, and freestyler, Jones does his club swimming with dROP Aquatics and owns the Winter Junior cut in the 200 fly. He earned three best times at Juniors East in December and placed 13th in the 200 fly at Indianapolis Sectionals in 2019. Last summer, he took 10th in the 200m fly at Greensboro Futures where he also finaled in the 100m free.

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 49.99
  • 200 fly – 1:50.55
  • 200 IM – 1:54.14
  • 400 IM – 4:09.71
  • 50 free – 21.21
  • 100 free – 47.90
  • 200 free – 1:42.56

A rising senior at Farmington High School, Jones is a two-time Michigan DI State Championship finalist. He finished ninth in the 100 fly as a sophomore while taking 14th in the 200 free during his freshman season.

Jones has made some impressive improvements over the past two seasons, dropping three seconds in the 100 fly, five in the 200 fly/200 IM/400 IM, and seven in the 200 free. He will add valuable depth to the Spartans’ fly training group when he arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2025; his best time in the 200 fly would’ve ranked third on their lineup last season.
