Junior Pan Pacs Finalist Oliver Blanchard Gives 2028 Verbal to Georgia
NEW COMMIT: The University of Georgia has picked up its second public verbal commitment for Fall 2028 from Canadian international Oliver Blanchard of Pointe Claire, Quebec. Blanchard specializes in distance freestyle.
He will join Coyle Moore in Athens as a member of the Bulldogs’ Class of 2032.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am honoured to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Georgia. I want to thank my family and coaches for all their support and help to get me to this point. Lastly I’d like to thank the coaches at Georgia for giving me this amazing opportunity. GO DAWGS!!”
Blanchard most recently represented Team Canada at Junior Pan-Pacs where he placed sixth in the 800m free, eighth in the 1500m free and ninth in the 400m free. He won the 800m free and 1500m free at the Bell Canadian Trials in July before bringing home three gold medals at the Grand Prix du Québec a week later. He earned silver in the 800m free and bronze in both the 400m free and 1500m free at the 2025 Canadian Trials.
He trains year-round with Pointe-Claire Swim Club.
In LCM, his best times include:
- 400m free – 3:56.11
- 800m free – 8:06.59
- 1500m free – 15:25.02
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 500 free – 4:23.26
- 1000 free – 9:02.54
- 1650 free – 15:01.89
Georgia finished fourth at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships and 15th at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
Blanchard’s best time (converted) to yards in the mile would’ve ranked second on the Bulldogs’ roster last season, and would’ve placed in the top-16 at the 2026 SEC Championships.
