NEW COMMIT: New Canaan, Conn. sprinter and high school junior Maxine Parker has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Georgia as a member of the class of 2024.

Parker currently does her club swimming with Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and owns a pair of U.S. Open standards with two additional Summer Junior standards. A sprint freestyle specialist, she won the 50m free at the Junior Pan Pac Championships last summer. She most recently tied for third in the 200 free, sixth in the 100 free and eighth in the 50 free at Juniors East in December. She also was on the second-place 4×50 medley relay and swam on the meet record-breaking 4×50 free relay.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Georgia! Thanks to all my family, friends, and coaches for helping me get here! Go Dawgs!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.44
  • 100 free – 48.99
  • 200 free – 1:46.21
  • 100 back – 55.79

Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Bulldogs, Parker will make an immediate impact in their sprint group and on all five relays. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50/100/200 freestyles at the 2018 SEC Championships. By the time she arrives in Athens, she’ll add her talents to a sprint squad that’ll include Gabi Fa’amausili, Katherine AikinsOlivia Carter and Caroline Aikins.
