Junior Pan Pac Runner-Up Yamato Okadome Verbally Commits to Cal

NEW COMMIT: The University of California, Berkeley has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 year and beyond from Yamato Okadome of Japan.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at UC Berkeley!! I’m so thankful for this opportunity and for my parents, coaches, friends and mentors who have helped me along the way. Go bears 🐻🐻

Okadome, who represented Japan at the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Honolulu, won a pair of silver medals and three bronze medals. He was the runner-up in the 100m breast and 200m breast, earning bronze in three relays.

In LCM, his best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:00.70
  • 200 breast – 2:12.19

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 100 breast – 52.88
  • 200 breast – 1:55.48
