Junior National Qualifier Kyriakos Peristeridis Hands Verbal to Florida Southern College
NEW COMMIT: Three-time Junior National qualifier Kyriakos Peristeridis of Kalamazoo, Mich. will head to the Sunshine State next fall after announcing his verbal commitment to Florida Southern College.
A talented freestyler, Peristeridis does his club swimming with Southwest Y Michigan Swimming and earned two golds at the Michigan LCM Open this past summer after grabbing silver in the 400m free at Cleveland Sectionals. Last winter he recorded a best time at Juniors East, registered five top-3 finishes at the Michigan SCY Open, and was a three-time finalist at Indianapolis Sectionals.
He told Swimming World:
“I am proud and excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and swimming career at Florida Southern College! I am so thankful to my family, friends, and coaches for all their support and guidance throughout this process. I’m looking forward to the incredible combination of rigorous academic and athletic programs offered at FSC, and spending the next four years as a MOC! Go MOCS!”
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:40.37
- 500 free – 4:30.93
- 1000 free – 9:18.78
- 1650 free – 15:45.21
Peristeridis will make an immediate impact when he suits up for the Mocs as a member of the class of 2024 as his best times already rank near the top of their lineup. He would’ve placed fourth in the 500/1000 free, seventh in the mile, and eighth in the 200 free at the 2019 Sunshine State Conference Championships where Florida Southern finished third overall in the team standings.
