NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Isabella Urlando of Sacramento, Calif. has decided to remain in-state for her college career after verbally committing to the University of California, Santa Barbara beginning in the fall of 2022.

She will join Alyssa LundVivian Mudry, Olivia Hovorka and Nina Statler as members of the Gauchos’ Class of 2026.

Her older brother, Luca Urlando, is currently a freshman at Georgia.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at UCSB!  Thank you to my coaches, teachers, and family who have supported me. I can’t wait to be part of this incredible team! Go Gauchos!!!”

Urlando, who trains year-round with DART Swimming, earned a pair of best times at College Station Sectionals last February and won the 100 back at the Neptune Holiday Classic in December 2019. In August 2019, she raced three events at Mount Hood Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 100 Back – 55.67
  • 200 Back – 2:00.88
  • 100 Fly – 56.43

Currently a junior at C.K. McClatchy High School, Urlando raced the 100 back and 100 fly at the CIF State Championships as a freshman. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed fourth and seventh, respectively, in those events at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section meet in 2019 as well.

Urlando will add valuable depth individually and on medley relays when she arrives on campus at the start of the 2022-23 season. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 back and 200 back, as well as the C-final of the 100 fly, at the 2020 MPSF Championships.
