Junior National Qualifier Harry Herrera Sends 2022 Verbal to Indiana Hoosiers

NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has received their third early verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from breaststroker Harry Herrera, who now lives in Florida.

He will join Alejandro Kincaid and Drew Reiter as a member of the Hoosiers’ Class of 2026.

He told Swimming World:

“Wicked excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Indiana University. Thanks to my family, friends, and coaches for helping me get here. Go Hoosiers! ?⚪️”

A Junior National qualifier, Herrera does his club swimming with the Bolles School Sharks and placed fifth in the 200m breast at Plantation Sectionals back in March after earning three best times at the Florida OT Qualifier.

In Summer 2019, he placed 18th in the 200m breast at Gainesville Sectionals before going on to record five top-12 finishes at the Florida LCM Senior Championships. He also raced five events at Greensboro Futures.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 55.79
  • 200 breast – 1:59.77
  • 200 IM – 1:54.59

Currently a junior at Bolles School, Herrera earned bronze in the 100 breast at the 2020 Florida 1A State Championships while taking 14th in that event during his sophomore season. He also finished fourth in the 100 breast and fifth in the 200 free at the FHSAA 1A Region 2 meet as a junior.

The Hoosiers are bringing in a large and talented Class of 2025 that includes Joseph RaddeFinn BrooksNichita BortnicovAidan ReaganRafael MiroslawJackson CarlileLuke BarrSean SwiftJosh MathenyLucas Piunti, and Mason Carlton in Bloomington in the fall of 2021.
