Junior National Bronze Medalist Isaac Elhard Picks Arizona State for 2028
NEW COMMIT: Arizona State University has produced a new verbal commitment for Fall 2028 from Isaac Elhard of West Fargo, North Dakota. Elhard is a Junior National qualifier who excels in freestyle, backstroke and butterfly.
He will join Domenico Sotomayor in Tempe as a member of the Sun Devils’ Class of 2032.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“After careful consideration, I am extremely excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic careers at Arizona State University!! Thank you to the Lord for his endless blessings. I am beyond grateful for the endless support from my mom, dad, my brother Nick and all of our family. I want to say a special thank you to my teammates and friends who have given me so much over the years. I want to say a special thank you to all my high school coaches Coach Gerald, Coach Lisa and Coach Barb for always giving me opportunities and growth in the pool. Elhard does his club swimming with West Fargo Flyers and most recently earned bronze in the 50m fly at Junior Nationals after winning the 50m fly and 100m free at North Dakota Long Course Seniors this past summer. He also was a five-time finalist at Westmont Speedo Sectionals in July where his highest finish was a 13th-place showing in the 50m fly.
Elhard had five top-5 finishes at North Dakota Short Course Seniors in March, highlighted by bronze medals in the 50 fly and 100 fly.
His best times include:
- 50 fly – 21.85
- 100 fly – 47.84
- 50 back – 22.92
- 100 back – 49.06
- 200 back – 1:47.72
- 50 free – 20.84
- 100 free – 45.41
Currently a junior at West Fargo High School, Elhard won the 100 fly and the 200 free at the 2026 North Dakota State Championships, also helping his 4×50 free and 4×100 free relays win en route to capturing the state title. His 200 free time of 1:37.83 broke the state and pool record. Elhard earned silver in the 200 IM and 500 free at the state meet as a freshman in 2024.
Arizona State won the Big 12 Championship for the second straight year in 2026. The Sun Devils then went on to finish fourth at the 2026 NCAA Championships. In total, ASU has produced 233 All-Americans, 169 conference champions, 56 national champions and 71 Olympians.
