John Guilinger Announces In-State Commitment to Nittany Lions

NEW COMMIT: Pittsburgh, Penn. native John Guilinger has given his in-state commitment to Penn State University and will suit up for the Nittany Lions in the fall of 2020.

Guilinger swims year-round with Mount Lebanon Aqua Club and raced four events this past summer at Geneva Futures where he recorded a best time in the 50m free. Last short course season, he finaled in the 100m fly at Indianapolis Sectionals en route to achieving four personal best times.

He told Swimming World:

“I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Penn State University. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for their support that helped me get here! #WeAre”

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 51.28
  • 200 IM – 1:54.33
  • 100 back – 51.83
  • 50 free – 21.73

A current senior at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School, Guilinger is a three-time Pennsylvania 3A State Championship finalist. The NISCA All-American also placed seventh in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 back as a junior at the WPIAL 3A Championships after placing fourth and 13th, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.
