ISL 2021 Preview: A Look at Each Team’s Key Additions; Full Rosters For Season Three

The International Swimming League (ISL) is set to kick off its third season this week from Italy with many of the world’s top swimmers slated to compete. For several swimmers, the start of the season comes on the heels of the Olympics in Tokyo, and for others, the first meet of the season will be the first meet since their countries’ Olympic Trials.

The Cali Condors won the ISL championship last season with steady pressure from the London Roar, Energy Standard and the LA Current during the season, which was conducted in a bubble in Budapest because of the pandemic.

Each team has several familiar faces returning, but also some new faces — some moving from other teams.
The new ISL draft for Season Three changed the dynamics of the rosters quite a bit as teams were only allowed to retain a certain number of swimmers without other teams able to select them from the free-agent pool. Plus there was a rookie draft for newcomers to the ISL, another layer to the format, along with the fan vote, which saved one swimmer from each roster as well. It was a little confusing at first with so many layers of the draft, but the rosters are all set for the new season, which begins this week.
