NEW COMMIT: Isabel Traba has announced her verbal commitment to stay in-state and swim for the University of Miami. The Sarasota, Fla. native will join the Canes as part of the class of 2023.

Traba swims year-round with the Sarasota YMCA where she is a three-time Junior National qualifier. She just wrapped up a successful long course season, taking second in the 200m fly (2:2:15.95) at the Speedo Champions Series in Gainesville. She also competed at the Phillips 66 Summer National Championships. She raced to second in the 200 fly (1:59.68) at the 2018 YMCA Short Course National Championships and took third in the same event at the Speedo Winter Juniors East in a personal best of 1:58.58.

Also representing Sarasota High School, Traba finished sixth in the 200 IM (2:06.16) and eighth in the 100 fly (55.68) at the 2018 FHSAA 4A State meet. She finished seventh (2:06.30) and fifth (55.76), respectively, in those same events during her sophomore campaign. As a freshman, she took second in the 200 IM (2:04.72) and fourth in the 100 fly (55.44) at the 2A State meet.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to swim at the University of Miami!  I am so grateful to my coaches, teammates, and family for their endless support.  GO CANES!!!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 54.99
  • 200 fly – 1:58.58
  • 200 IM – 2:04.72
  • 400 IM – 4:22.36

Traba is a huge pickup for Miami when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season. She will have two seasons to train with the Canes’ top returning flyers, Alaina Skellett and Annie Kyriakidis. Traba’s best 100 fly and 400 IM times would rank at the top of Miami’s lineup last season.
