Irvine Novaquatics’ Josette Odgers Will Stay In State, Selects UC San Diego
NEW COMMIT: Sprint freestyler Josette Odgers has elected to stay in-state for her college career, sending her verbal commitment to UC San Diego for the fall of 2020.
Odgers does her club swimming with Irvine Novaquatics and most recently raced four events at Mount Hood Futures this past summer. Last winter, she earned bronze in the 50 free at the Speedo Champions Series meet before going on to earn a lifetime best at Carlsbad Sectionals. Also competing for Santa Margarita Catholic High School, Odgers raced the 50 free at the CIF State Championships during both her sophomore and junior seasons.
She told Swimming World:
“I feel so blessed to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of California San Diego!! I am so thankful for my family, friends and coaches who have helped me and supported me throughout this journey. I could not be more excited to be a Triton!!”
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.74
- 100 free – 52.04
- 200 free – 1:56.59
- 100 fly – 58.86
Odgers will add valuable depth both individually and on relays when she suits up for the Tritons as a member of the class of 2024. When she arrives on campus next fall, she’ll add her talents to a sprint freestyle group that’ll be led by Brittney Miles, Cody Hargadon, and Grace Murphy.
