In a weekend of quick relays, the Irvine Novaquatics 15-16 boys helped rewrite the record books. Owen Kao, Justin Nguyen, Hunter Hitchens, and Andrew Koustik combined for a 7:37.48 in the 800 freestyle relay, lowering the old National Age Group record by over two seconds.
Irvine Aquazots’ Logan Redondo, Christopher Wong, Joshua Smith, and Michael Hauss swam a 7:39.77 to set the old mark in 2010.

Kao- 1:53.04/ 1:52.57
Nguyen- 1:52.98/ 1:52.50
Hitchens- 1:54.92/ 1:54.00
Koustik- 1:56.54/ 1:56.63
All four boys are at the upper end of the age group at 16. However, given their previous individual best times there could be room for improvement. The 17-18 NAG stands at 7:25.78 set by Nova of Virginia in 2015.
Last night’s swim won the event by twelve seconds at the 2016 Los Angeles Invite.
