Around the United States, a handful of local swim committees have restricted young age group swimmers from wearing high-tech racing suits in competition. These suits can cost up to $400 or $500, creating a potential issue where the cost of participation in the sport has drastically risen.

At the ASCA World Clinic, Swimming World’s Brent Rutemiller sat down with Stu Isaac, who is serving as a consultant for USA Swimming as it tries to find a solution to the tech-suits-for-age-groupers issue. USA Swimming is seeking a consistent set of age group suit policies so that rules do not differ by LSC.

Isaac discussed some of the key issues, both practical and philosophical, he is analyzing and explained how he is trying to prove and disprove certain myths about age groupers wearing tech suits.

Find out more about the issues Isaac is tackling and where he expects his work to end up in full 11-minute interview with Isaac below.
