LINCOLN, Nebraska, September 26. ONE of the greatest breaststrokers in history, Penny Heyns has joined the American College Connection, a recruiting firm that features former college coaches and athletes. Heyns will serve as the International Director for the ACC and will be responsible for identifying international talent. Heyns will determine which athletes are qualified and desire to come to the United States.

During her reign atop the breaststroke, the South African won 1996 Olympic gold medals in the 100 and 200 breast events and established world records on 14 occasions. She was the 1996 NCAA champ in the 100 breast for the University of Nebraska and was twice named World Swimmer of the Year.

"Penny brings a unique combination of experience to ACC,” said organization president Rick Paine. “She is one of the most recognized athletes in the world, she had an outstanding U.S. college career at Nebraska, she has a great eye for talent and she has a true passion for helping young people. She understands what it takes to be a successful college student-athlete."
