MISHAWAKA, Indiana, October 17. TEXAS A&M head coach Steve Bultman has been a bit quiet so far in the Class of 2014, but that tends to happen when you have amazing swimmers already on your roster in Breeja Larson, Cammile Adams and Sarah Henry. Today, however, he made a huge score as he lifted Indiana’s top recruit Bethany Galat out of Hoosier country.

Galat, the 13th-ranked swimmer in the Class of 2014 by CollegeSwimming.com, swims for South Bend Swim Club and preps at Penn High School.

The top-ranked recruit in the State of Indiana, Galat is a stunning breaststroker who will do well under the tutelage of Bultman, who took a walk-on in Larson and turned her into a swimming star.

Galat has a 1:00.29 in the 100-yard breaststroke from the 2013 Indiana State High School Championships, and also clocked a 1:09.00 in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Speedo Junior Nationals this summer to demonstrate her speed.

She’s also dangerous in longer distance events. She has a 2:14.05 in the 200-yard breast as well as a 1:59.06 in the 200-yard IM; and those times translate across to long course with a 2:34.11 in the 200-meter breast and a 2:15.99 in the 200-meter IM.

Additionally, just for good measure and a dash of even more versatility, she can hang a 22.93 in the 50-yard free or a 4:15.17 in the 400-yard IM on an opposing team in dual meet format or to score some team points at a championship meet.

The National Junior Teamer will definitely add to the firepower of A&M, which has a habit of putting together outstanding conference and NCAA championship squads.
