Indiana Hoosiers Pick Up Verbal Commitment from Backstroker Mary Kate Reicherter

NEW COMMIT: The Indiana University Hoosiers have been handed a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Mary Kate Reicherter of Arlington, Va.

Primarily a backstroker, Reicherter swims year-round with Arlington Aquatic Club and most recently recorded a best time in the 200 back at NCSAs after placing fourth in the 400 IM at the Potomac Valley SCY Championships. She competed in both backstroke events at Juniors East in December and raced six events at NCSAs last summer.

Also competing for Yorktown High School, Reicherter is a four-time Virginia 6A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed fifth in the 100 back and ninth in the 200 IM as a junior after earning bronze in the former event during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

Her best times include:

50 back – 26.91
100 back – 56.08
200 back – 2:01.57
200 IM – 2:07.04

Although she’s just outside of scoring range at the Big Ten Championships, Reicherter has continuously made improvements over the past few seasons with over a year to go before arriving in Bloomington. She’ll also have two years of overlap with Morgan Scott and one year to train with Grace Haskett.
