NEW COMMIT: The University of Illinois has received their second early verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Brigitta Neverman of Green Bay, Wis.

She will join Sara Jass of Geneva, Ill. as a member of the Fighting Illini’s Class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois! I chose the University of Illinois because of the welcoming team atmosphere, the coaches, and all the amazing resources to help me succeed in and out of the pool. I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for their endless support throughout this process. I can’t wait to be a part of this amazing team! ??”

An extremely versatile swimmer, Neverman does her club swimming with Green Bay YMCA and most recently won three events at the Speedo Performance Meet in December. She also grabbed the gold medal in the 100 IM at the Wisconsin 13&O State Championships last winter.

In Summer 2019, she placed 15th in the 400m IM at Minneapolis Sectionals before going on to earn bronze in that event at the Wisconsin 13&O LCM State Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 200 IM – 2:03.98
  • 400 IM – 4:26.76
  • 100 free – 52.16
  • 100 back – 56.45
  • 200 back – 2:01.93
  • 50 fly – 25.27
  • 100 fly – 55.67

Currently a junior at Green Bay Southwest High School, Neverman is a four-time individual Wisconsin DI State Championship finalist.  She finished third in the 100 back and 10th in the 100 back as a sophomore while taking eighth and 14th, respectively, in those events during her freshman season.

Like Jass, Neverman is another big get for the Fighting Illini and will add valuable depth when she arrives on campus as a member of the Class of 2026. She would’ve been their fastest 100 butterflyer, second-fastest 200 IMer and third-fastest 200 IMer/200 backstroker last season.
