NEW COMMIT: Mesa, Arizona native Maddie Timm has announced her verbal intention to continue her academic and swimming career at the University of Idaho beginning in the fall of 2020.

Timm does her club swimming with Mesa Aquatic Club and most recently recorded a best time at Mount Hood Speedo Sectionals in July. She placed 14th in the 100 back at the Arizona Senior Open Championships in February before going on to race three events at Four Corners Speedo Sectionals in March.

Also competing for Mountain View High School, Timm is a five-time Arizona State Championship finalist. She finished eighth in the 100 back as a junior after placing tenth in that event as well as 11th in the 200 IM during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for the University of Idaho! I couldn’t be happier to continue not only my studies but to also continue swimming at such an incredible college with great teammates and a wonderful coach. Thank you to all my coaches and teammates throughout the years and, of course, my amazing family for all their dedication and support. See you next fall…GO Vandals!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 28.06
  • 100 back – 58.65
  • 200 back – 2:06.51
  • 50 free – 25.87
  • 100 free – 55.23

Timm will add valuable backstroke depth to Idaho’s lineup when she suits up for the Vandals as a member of the class of 2024 as her best times already rank near the top of their roster. She’s just on the edge of scoring range at the Western Athletic Conference Championships and still has a year of club swimming to go before arriving on campus.
