NEW COMMIT: Érd, Hungary’s Kurdi Zsófi has announced her verbal commitment to Florida State University as a member of the class of 2024.

Zsófi represents the Hungarian Swimming Federation and is trained by coach György Lörinczi. She has competed at the European Junior Championships the last three years, qualifying for the semi-finals of the 100m breast in 2018. She was the 100m free runner-up at the 2018 Hungarian National Championships and earned a trio of bronze medals at the 2018 SCM National Championships where she set a new age group record in the 100m IM.

She told Swimming World:

“I want to make public my verbal commitment to Florida State University. I will start in 2020 Fall. I chose FSU because it has got a strong swim team with amazing coaches! I’m very excited for the next years! I will do my best for the team!”

In LCM, her best times include:

  • 50m free – 26:08
  • 100m free – 56:46
  • 200m free – 2:03:93
  • 50m breast – 31:98
  • 100m breast – 1:10:91
  • 50m fly – 27:41

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 50 free – 22.97
  • 100 free – 49.91
  • 200 free – 1:49.55
  • 50 breast – 28.04
  • 100 breast – 1:02.40
  • 50 fly – 23.95

Even with 1.5 years to go before arriving in Tallahassee, Zsófi will add valuable depth for the Seminoles in their sprint freestyle and breaststroke groups. She’s currently just outside of scoring range at the ACC Championships, but has made continuous improvements each season.
