Horvath, Davidson Named Mid-Con Athletes of the Week

CHICAGO, Illinois, October 10. OAKLAND’s Zoltan Horvath and Eastern Illinois' Marlise Davidson have been selected as the swimming and diving Athletes of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Horvath earned Athlete of the Week honors after leading the Golden Grizzlies to a second-place finish at the Dennis Stark Relays, trailing only host Notre Dame. He swam the second leg of Oakland’s 200 and 400 medley relays, which won their respective events, the only relay teams to defeat the Fighting Irish. Horvath also swam the leadoff leg of the 400 IM, 400 fly, and 400 breast relays, all second-place finishers for the Golden Grizzlies.

Davidson received Athlete of the Week accolades for her efforts against Big East foe Louisville in a dual meet last weekend. She kicked off the meet by capturing top honors in the 50 free with a time of 24.98. Davidson followed with a second-place effort in the 100 free, swimming the event in 53.45. She capped off the meet by swimming the leadoff leg of the Panthers’ 200 free relay, which touched the wall first.
