Hope Ends Dual Meet Season Undefeated in MIAA Competition

ALBION, Michigan, January 24. BOTH Hope swimming and diving teams concluded the dual meet portion of their MIAA season undefeated by gaining nearly identical victories over Albion on Saturday.

Coach John Patnott's Flying Dutch women's team gained a 138-99 victory to move to 6-0 in league duals and to 9-0 overall.

The Flying Dutchmen won 137-99 to end up 5-0 in MIAA duals and go to 8-1 overall.

Women's Summary: Six different swimmers captured an event highlighted by
freshman Lisa Smith who had an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time in winning the 100 butterfly (58.83).

Other Hope winners were Michelle Smith, 200 freestyle (1:57.85); Lisa Ekdom, 50 freestyle (26.12); Sara Smith, 100 freestyle (55.66); Audrey Arnold, 100 backstroke (1:02.55) and Haley Martin, 500 freestyle (5:32.78).

Men's Summary: Senior Jake Taber was a double winner capturing the 50
freestyle (:22.05) and 100 freestyle (:49.14).

Other Hope winners were Kurt Blohm, 200 freestyle (1:45.66); Matt Boote, 100 butterfly (:55.74); Jeff Seymour, 100 backstroke (58.44) and Ross Geurink, 100 breaststroke (1:00.89).

Senior diver Lee Heerspink had season-best totals on both boards, finishing second on the one-meter (219.90) and third on the three-meter (203.85).
