KELLER, Texas, October 16. TEXAS head coach Eddie Reese certainly did not have to go far to pick up his latest sprinter in the Class of 2014 as North Texas Nadadore Brett Ringgold made his commitment as a future Longhorn today.

Ringgold, the 19th-ranked recruit in the Class of 2014 by CollegeSwimming.com, adds a sensational sprinter to Reese’s Class of 2014 arsenal.

Ringgold clocked a 19.73 in the 50-yard free and 43.44 in the 100-yard free at the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior Championships less than a year ago. He also has the potential to serve multiple roles on the sprint medley relays for UT with a 22.08 in the 50-yard fly from the National Black Heritage meet in May.

Ringgold isn’t just a sprinter, as he also provides some versatility to the Longhorn program. He owns a 50.21 in the 100-yard back, 48.41 in the 100-yard fly, and a 1:50.04 in the 200-yard IM.

Ringgold spoke with SwimmingWorld.TV at the 2012 Winter Junior Nationals , where his 19.73 won the night in the 50 free.

Ringgold, the second-ranked recruit in the State of Texas behind teammate Jon Roberts, also has some long course ability. He dropped a 22.97 in the 50-meter free and a 50.21 in the 100-meter free at the 2013 Speedo Junior Nationals. So far, he’s the top swimmer to commit to the Texas Longhorns, but Reese also closes strong once the rest of the teams finish their early commitment onslaught.
