NEW COMMIT: The Virginia Tech Class of 2022 continues to grow, this time with a verbal commitment from Brennen Doss. Doss, from Midlothian, VA, is a senior at Monacan High School and trains with Quest Swimming. He’ll suit up next fall along with Philip ManoffHenry CleassonDylan EichbergBen HicksAlex Wright and Keith Myburgh.

Doss told Swimming World,

“I chose Virginia Tech because when I went to visit I felt right at home. I could not be more excited to spend my next four years as a Hokie!”

The freestyler’s top SCY times are:

  • 200 free – 1:39.17
  • 500 free – 4:27.91
  • 1000 free – 9:12.29
  • 1650 free – 15:34.13
  • 200 Fly 1:50.06

His top times in the 200 fly and 1000 free came at last March’s Virginia Senior Short Course Championships. Doss continued his quick swimming into the end of the month, posting lifetime best 500 and 1650 times at the Dolfin ISCA Junior Championships.

At last year’s ACC Championships Doss would have snuck into scoring range in the 1650, finishing 23rd with his lifetime best time. Next year the Hokie distance group will feature senior Michael Craddock. As a sophomore in 2017 Craddock finished fifth in the mile at ACCs with a 15:07.16. Doss will fit between him and 26th place sophomore Nathan Pawlowicz (15:45.11).
