Henry Claesson Gives Verbal Commitment to Virginia Tech Hokies

NEW COMMIT: Henry Claesson of Lyons Swim Club has given his verbal commitment to swim for the Virginia Tech Hokies. He joins a Class of 2022 that also includes verbal commitments from Dylan EichbergBen HicksAlex Wright and Keith Myburgh.

The Lyons Township N High School senior is primarily a butterflier and freestyler. He posted a slew of lifetime best times in those events at NCSAs in March. His top SCY times are:

  • 50 Fly 22.22
  • 100 Fly 48.35
  • 200 Fly 1:48.76
  • 50 Free 20.45
  • 100 Free 44.85
  • 200 Free 1:37.85

At the 2017 Illinois High School Boys State Championships the Lyons took home their second consecutive state title. Claesson touched third in the 100 freestyle (45.52).

He told Swimming World,

“It is like Virginia Tech was created just for me, a beautiful college town, incredible engineering program, swim program on the rise and a coaching staff I connected with right away. This is exactly what I was looking for in a college program.”
