High School State Swimming Championships: Wyoming 3A Boys

GILLETTE, Wyoming, February 23. LANDER Valley High School combined for 317 points and the team title at the Wyoming 3A Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 22-23 in Gillette. Buffalo captured second (207), followed by Worland (169), Powell (144) and Kemmerer (126).

The Tigers' 200 medley relay finished first in 1:43.09 with the quartet of sophomore Tucker Russell and seniors Zach Tilton, Darren Pursel and Bobby Cecrle.

Senior Matt Robinson and junior Drew Gramlich joined Cecrle and Tilton for a first-place 1:33.03 in the 200 free relay.

Gramlich picked up an individual win in the 500 free, and Robinson posted a 1:02.04 to take first in the 200 IM.

Buffalo prevented a relay sweep with its 400 free relay of sophomores Timothy Cohoon and Matt Scarlett, plus seniors Nate Holt and Neil Medders. Holt had an easy time in the 100 back, cruising to a 54.13 finish, and Medders touched first in the 200 free (1:49.22).

Two Worland sophomores claimed two event titles each. Symen Ooms sprinted to first-place finishes in the 50 and 100 free (21.97 and 47.94), and Connor Petty doubled in the 200 IM (1:59.96) and 100 fly (53.75). Junior Austin Rettinghouse's program of dives earned him first with a total of 409.15 points.
