Hendrik Feldwehr Posts Swim of Night at German Open
Hendrik Feldwehr provided the top swim of the second night at the German Open in Essen.
Feldwehr, who is ranked seventh in the world in the 50-meter breast with a 27.33, cruised to victory in the event with a 27.93. Yannick Lindenberg took second in 28.94 with Andre Schafer taking third in 29.53.
Florian Vogel, fresh off saving a woman from drowning during a photo shoot, topped the men’s 400-meter free in 3:52.18. Jacob Heidtmann touched just behind with a second-place 3:52.32. Clemens Rapp claimed third in 3:52.37, while Poul Zellmann closed out a tight top four with a 3:52.78.
Steffen Deibler blazed his way to a 23.94 to win the men’s 50-meter fly. Jonas Bergmann touched second in 24.14. with Max Oswald winding up third in 24.27.
Johanna Roas won the women’s 50-meter back in 28.86 with Lisa Graf taking second in 29.34. Jenny Mensing placed third in 29.45.
Jan-Philip Glania clipped Marco Di Carli, 25.60 to 25.65, for the men’s 50-meter back title. Carl Louis Schwarz placed third in 25.76.
Margarethe Hummel won the women’s 50-meter breast in 32.30. Vanessa Grimberg touched just behind with a second-place 32.34, while Julia Willers claimed third in 32.48.
Leonie Beck topped the women’s 400-meter free in 4:08.87. Sarah Kohler earned second in 4:10.19 with Johanna Friedrich placing third in 4:10.41.
This is the last meet to qualify for Germany’s team to the 2015 World Championships.
