Heat Sheets Now Available For Day 3 Olympic Swimming Prelims

The heat sheets for day three prelims of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games are now available and are highlighted by a light morning of events. Events for the morning session include the women’s 200 free, men’s 200 fly, and women’s 200 individual medley.

A competitive field of women in the 200 free will kickstart the morning session as top seeded Sarah Sjostrom will look to edge out reigning world champion Katie Ledecky. World Record holder Federica Pellegrini and Junior World Record holder Shen Duo will look to defend or even lower their records.

Other names to watch include Missy FranklinFemke Heemskerk,  and Emma McKeon as six heats of swimmers vie for a spot in the semi-finals.

After earning his nineteenth Olympic gold medal in the 400 free relay, the GOAT Michael Phelps will look to earn his first individual medal of the 2016 Olympic Games. Phelps is one of two 1:52’s entered into the 200 butterfly with the other belonging to top seed Laszlo Cseh of Hungary. Japan’s Daiya Seto, China’s Daiya Seto, and South Africa’s Chad le Clos will also be in the running for a spot in the semi-finals.

The last event of the morning will be a battle between the women of the 200 IM. World Record holder Katinka Hosszu is entered as the top seed with a 2:06.12, over two seconds ahead of Siobhan-Marie O’Connor’s second place seed of 2:08.45. Maya DiRadoHannah Miley, Ye Shiwen, and Melanie Margalis are just a few of the top names looking to move along to the semi-finals.
