Heat sheets are now available for the final morning of prelim swimming in Rio. Check them out here.

Scheduled Events:

  • Women’s 50 Freestyle
  • Men’s 1500 Freestyle
  • Women’s 4×100 Medley Relay
  • Men’s 4×100 Medley Relay

With the only two days left in Olympic swimming competition there are just two individual events that have not been contested. The women will get their first chance to swim the 50-meter freestyle, while the men will dive in for preliminaries of the 1500-meter free.

In what was arguably the greatest race of night six, the Campbell sisters missed out on the podium for the 100 free finishing fourth and sixth. The two will get their shot at redemption as the top two seeds in preliminary action of the 50 free. Bronte and Cate share the top seed at a 23.84, swimming in heats 12 and 11 respectively.

Other names to watch out for in the 50 includes Sarah Sjostrom, Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace, Ranomi Kromowidjojo, Simone Manuel, and Abbey Weitzeil.

Altering the length of the race, but not the tone of the meet will be the men of the 1500 free. Gregorio Paltrinieri enters as the top seed with a 14:34.04, more than five seconds ahead of second seeded Mack Horton. The USA duo of Connor Jaeger and Jordan Wilimovsky, plus Sun Yang, Gabrielle Detti, and Ryan Cochrane will make this an exciting preliminary swim.

The morning ends with the 400 medley relays for both the women and the men. China, Sweden, and the USA enter as the top seeds on the women’s side, while the USA, Australia, and France highlight the men’s. Relay line-ups will be announced in the morning.
