NEW COMMIT: Harvard University has received a new verbal commitment* for the fall of 2020 from sprinter Mandy Brenner of Orange, Calif.

Brenner swims year-round with SoCal Aquatics Association and owns three U.S. Open standards, including the Olympic Trials cut in the 100m free. She finished fifth in the 100m free and 17th in the 50m free this past summer at Junior Nationals. Last winer, she recorded 100% best times at Juniors West where her highest finish was a sixth-place showing in the 50 free before going on to register three top-12 finishes at Carlsbad Sectionals.

Also competing for Crean Lutheran High School, Brenner is a six-time CIF State Championship finalist. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American earned bronze in both the 50 free and 100 free as a junior after placing seventh and 10th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my acceptance via likely letter to attend Harvard University! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing team while attending my dream school. All of my friends, family, coaches, and teachers have been beyond supportive in this entire process and I could not be more thankful to have them all in my life and by my side. Go Crim!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.82
  • 100 free – 49.82
  • 200 free – 1:50.43
  • 100 fly – 54.00

Brenner will make an immediate impact both individually and on relays when she suits up for Harvard as a member of the clas of 2024. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly at the 2019 Ivy League Championships where the Crimson earned their second-straight conference title.
