Hackett Wins His Third Gold at Queensland Champs

BRISBANE, January 14. GRANT Hackett contrinued to put on a virtuoso performance on Day 3 of the Queensland Open and Age Championships in Cleveland, a suburb of Brisbane.

On the first two days, the 1500 meter world record-holder and Olympic champion won the 400 and 800 meter fresestyles in speedy fashion. Today, the former world record-holder in the 200m free won that event too, clocking an impressive 1:48.05. Hackett is one of only three men in history to have swum under 1:46. Canada's Rick say was second today in 1:50.09.

In other highlights, Canada's Riley Janes, a former Texas A&M star, won the men's 50m backstroke in 26.33, bettering the Queensland record.

Jessicah Schipper, 16, took the women's 200m fly in 2:13.85.
