Great Lakes Valley Conference Day 2 Recap: Drury, Indianapolis Lead

Night two of the Great Lakes Valley Conference featured five events including the 200 free relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free and 400 medley relay.

The results sheet for tonight was as followed.

After this evening’s swims, Drury continues to hold first place for the women (539), while University of Indianapolis leads for men (375).

Women’s 200 free relay

The evening kicked off with a set of relays. Drury led the tight pack, with a time of 1:32.83. Indy secured the silver with a time of 1:33.11, followed closely by McKendree with a time of 1:33.83.

Bellarmine took fourth with a time of 1:36.43, followed by Truman State (1:36.67), William Jewell (1:37.07), Missouri St. Louis (1:39.01), and Maryville (1:44.11).

Men’s 200 free relay

McKendree slid into first with a time 1:19.33, followed closely by Missouri S&T, with a time of 1:19.81. Third place went to Indy, with a time of 1:20.76.

Lewis touched fourth, with a time of 1:21.08, followed by Drury (1:21.11), Missouri St. Louis (1:21.78), and Truman State (1:22.12). William Jewell touched eighth, with a time of 1:24.24.

Women’s 400 IM

A pair freshman took the top spots, lead by Drury’s Tori Sopp with a time of 4:15.59. Bec Cross followed behind her team mate with a time of 4:24.56. Bronze went to Sasha Shatskikh, with a time of 4:25.74.

Drury’s Ashley Sturman added to their reign for a fourth-place finish of 4:29.04. Next followed Avery Witcher (4:32.97), Hallie Dixon (4:33.17), Merel Visser (4:33.87), and Delaney Haralson (4:36.85).

Men’s 400 IM

Missouri S&T’s Andy Huffman dominated the event with a time of 3:53.49. Second place finisher Young Tae Seo finished in a time of 3:57.23. The bronze went to Patryk Golinski, with a time of 3:57.27.

Drury secured the fourth, with Andrew Rodriguez touching in at 3:57.40, followed by Matthew Sims (3:57.77), Parker Benn (3:57.90), Tame Govaerts-Paul (4:00.61), and Alexander Graham (4:02.05).

Women’s 100 fly

Drury’s Bailee Nunn secured another first place with a time of 52.55. Indy’s Darian Murray followed for silver with a time of 55.68. Abby Lunzmann took third with a time of 55.86.

Fourth place went to Ebony McCray with a time of 55.91, followed by Mackenzie Wieberg (56.39), Kirsten Votava (56.44), Victoria Sananikone (56.54) and Katie Vulich (57.09).

Men’s 100 fly

Drury’s Pavel Semochkin finished in first with a time of 47.25, followed by Matija Pucarevic with a time of 47.65, and Rodrigo Codo Berti with a time of 48.23.

Fourth place went to Kael Yorke with a time of 48.39, followed by Gregg Lichinsky (48.41), Aaron Taske (48.42), Ethan Shih (48.75), and Ante Lucev (48.79).

Women’s 200 free

A duo of Drury women took the top two spots, led by Erica Dahlgren with a time of 1:50.07. Team mate Karianne Reinertsen touches second with a time of 1:50.57, followed by Bellarmine’s Rachel Walker with a time of 1:50.74.

Caytee Wright touch fourth with a time of 1:52.11, followed by Allison Weber (1:52.16), Krystal Caylor (1:52.28), Chrysoula Karamanou (1:52.87) and Sephanie Palczynski (1:52.97).

Men’s 200 free

McKendree’s Luca Simonetti took first with a time of 1:36.08. Second place went to Xander Skinner with a time of 1:36.34, with bronze going to Morgan Meyer with a time of 1:36.79.

Fourth place finisher was Guilherme Zavaneli with a time of 1:38.24, followed closely by Kevin McPherson (1:38.37), Sam Heveroh (1:40.11), Throstur Bjarnason (1:40.50), and Jared Dachroeden (1:40.64).

Women’s 400 medley relay

The evening finished with the 400 medley relay. Drury tacked on to their numbers, taking first with a time of 3:39.44. Bellarmine came in second with a time of 3:47.14, followed by Truman State with a time of 3:48.18.

Fourth place went to Indy with a time of 3:48.80, followed by McKendree (3:51.19), Lewis (3:52.78), William Jewell (3:53.17), and Missouri St. Louis (3:56.45).

Men’s 400 medley relay

Missouri S&T finished the evening with a first place with a time of 3:13.43. Silver went to McKendree with a time of 3:14.05, while bronze went to Indy with a time of 3:14.08.

Drury touched in fourth with a time of 3:14.47, followed by Lewis (3:20.45), Missouri St. Louis (3:20.64) and Bellarmine (3:22.18). Truman State touched in eighth with a time of 3:22.26.

Friday’s morning session features four events including the 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast and 200 fly. Prelims begins at 10 a.m. EST.
