NEW COMMIT: Maggie Summit of Rowley, Mass. has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota as a member of the class of 2023.

Summit swims year-round for YMCA of the North Shore under head coach Janet Harty. The three-time Junior National qualifier most recently competed at Jenks Speedo Sectionals where she recorded four lifetime bests and posted a trio of top-6 finishes. She finished fourth in both the 50 and 100 free at YMCA SCY Nationals in April and won the splash-and-dash at NE Senior Championships last December.

A current senior at Triton Regional High School, Summit has won five individual Massachusetts DI state titles during her career. She won the 50/100 free combo during both her sophomore and junior seasons and earned the gold in the 50 during her inaugural campaign. She has also earned NISCA and USA Swimming Academic All-American honors.

She told Swimming World:

“Beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Minnesota!!!!! Cannot thank my family, friends, and coaches enough for helping me get here!! #gogophs”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.10
  • 100 free – 50.09
  • 200 free – 1:47.74
  • 100 back – 57.26
  • 100 fly – 57.05

Summit will take her talents to a strong sprint group when she arrives in Minnesota for the 2019-20 season that includes Mackenzie Paddington and Tevyn Waddell. Summit’s best 200 free would’ve scored in the C-final of last season’s Big Ten Championships in which the Gophers finished fourth in the team standings.
