NEW COMMIT: The University of Minnesota has officially kicked off their Class of 2026 recruiting after receiving a verbal commitment from Olympic Trials qualifier Faith Johnson of Menomonee Falls, Wis.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at the University of Minnesota!! I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches for all of their unconditional support. Can’t wait to join this amazing team! GO GOPHERS!!!”

Johnson, who does her club swimming with Rocket Aquatics, most recently recorded six best times at the WEST Senior Mid-Season Showdown last month after competing at the Toyota U.S. Open. She finished fourth in the 100 back at the Wisconsin 13&O Championships back in March and raced at Juniors West last December.

In Summer 2019, she had a great showing at the Wisconsin 13&O LCM Championships where her highest finish was a fifth-place showing in the 100m back.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 54.13
  • 200 back – 1:59.21
  • 50 free – 24.01
  • 100 free – 53.07
  • 200 free – 1:55.69
  • 100 fly – 54.63
  • 200 fly – 2:01.66
  • 200 IM – 2:07.57
  • 400 IM – 4:31.00

Currently a junior at Sussex Hamilton High School, Johnson is a six-time individual Wisconsin DI State Championship finalist. She grabbed bronze in both the 100 back and 100 fly in 2020 while taking seventh and sixth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

Johnson will add valuable depth to the Golden Gophers’ lineup when she arrives on campus at the start of the 2022-23 season. She’ll join a young but talented training group that will include Paula Rodriguez Rivero, Pyper Doo, and Oksana Chaput.
