Golden Gophers Earn Verbal Commitment From Lillianna Brooks

NEW COMMIT: The University of Minnesota has earned a verbal commitment for the fall of 2019 from Denver, Colorado’s Lillianna Brooks.

Brooks does her club swimming with University of Denver Hilltoppers and owns a pair of Junior National standards. She recorded two lifetime bests at Junior Nationals this summer and finaled in the 200m back after finishing second in the 100m free at the Colorado Senior LCM Championships. Brooks achieved 100% best times at Juniors West last winter and competed at Austin Speedo Sectionals in January.

She also swims for Saint Mary’s Academy where she is a four-time Colorado 3A State Championship finalist. As a junior, she earned the silver in the 200 free and the bronze in the 500 free. Brooks placed third in the 200 free and was the 100 back runner-up during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at the University of Minnesota. From the moment I stepped on campus I immediately felt at home and knew it was the place for me. With the perfect mix between academics and athletics I know I will be able to succeed both in the pool and in the classroom. Go Gophers!!”

100 back – 57.05
200 back – 2:01.61
100 free – 51.43
200 free – 1:50.97
500 free – 4:56.67

Brooks will add valuable depth to the Golden Gopher’s roster when she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2023. She’ll join a mid-distance training group led by Mackenzie Paddington and a backstroke squad that includes Tevyn Waddell.
