WINNETKA, Illinois, February 28. DURING the preliminary round of swimming at the Illinois State High School Championships, Glenbrook South erased a longstanding national high school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Dominik Cubelic, Ryan Bach, Ben Hengels and Chris DeLetto stopped the clock in 1:22.63 during prelims to beat the 1992 mark of 1:22.70 set by Mercersburg. The mark will remain standing as the independent school standard, while Glenbrook's time cleared the public school record of 1:23.04 set by 2008 Swimming World Magazine National Champions Yucaipa last year.
