NEW COMMIT: Jefferson, Georgia native Jackson Harvin has elected to stay in-state for the fall of 2019 with his recent verbal commitment to Georgia Tech.

Harvin swims year-round with Athens Bulldog Swim Club and owns the Winter Nationals cut in the 200 IM with a Winter Juniors cut in the 200 free. He most recently competed at Juniors East earlier this month where he finished 13th in the 200 IM and 20th in the 200 free. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American raced five events at the Georgia LCM Senior Championships this past summer and posted five top-20 finishes at Greensboro Speedo Sectionals in March. Also swimming for Jefferson High School, Harvin finished third in the 200 free and 13th in the 200 IM as a junior at the Georgia 1A/5A State Championships.

He told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Georgia Tech! Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for helping me along the way. Georgia Tech has such amazing athletic and academics! I can’t wait for the next four years. Go Jackets!”

His best times include:

  • 200 IM – 1:48.99
  • 200 free – 1:38.93
  • 100 free – 46.32
  • 100 fly – 50.32
  • 200 fly – 1:50.91
  • 100 breast – 56.71

Harvin’s versatility will be extremely valuable when he suits up for the Yellow Jackets as a member of the class of 2023 and will have two years of overlap with Caio Pumputis, Georgia Tech’s highest scorer in the 200 IM at last season’s conference meet. Although he sits just outside of scoring range at the ACC Championships, Harvin has continuously made improvements each season.
