NEW COMMIT: Georgia has snagged a verbal commitment for the fall of 2019 from local freestyler and backstroker Charlie Logan.

Logan has been a Bulldog since the start, doing his club swimming with Athens Bulldog Swim Club where he is a five-time Junior National qualifier and has met the U.S. Open standard in the 200m back. He posted seven top-10 finishes – including a win in the 400m free – at the Georgia LCM Senior Championships over the summer. He was the 500 free and 400 IM runner-up at Georgia SCY Seniors and notched nine lifetime bests at Greensboro Speedo Sectionals.

Also competing for North Oconee High School, Logan is a five-time Georgia State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 500 free and took second in the 200 free as a junior after placing sixth in the 200 free and ninth in the 100 back during his sophomore campaign.

He told Swimming World:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue both my swimming and education at the University of Georgia. It has been a dream of mine since I was very young, and I am beyond grateful to have been given this opportunity. I can’t wait to accomplish more there both in and out of the pool. Go Dawgs!”

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:40.36.
  • 500 free – 4:30.83
  • 1000 free – 9:23.41
  • 1650 free – 16:02.32
  • 100 back – 51.98
  • 200 back – 1:47.89
  • 200 IM – 1:52.49
  • 400 IM – 4:00.33

Logan has improved tremendously over the past two seasons, taking 7 seconds off his 200 free, 18 off his 500, ten from his 200 back, eight from the 200 IM and well over a minute from his mile. He will join a young but talented training group next fall that includes Keegan Walsh, Tan Dunn, Andrew Abruzzo and Bradley Dunham.
