NEW COMMIT: Georgetown University has officially begun to form their recruiting class for the 2021-22 season and beyond from New Canaan, Conn. native Maddie Haley, who announced her decision via CollegeSwimming.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Georgetown University! I chose Georgetown for its amazing combination of academics and athletics as well as the cohesive team culture. A big thank you to my family, coaches, and friends for the constant support. Can’t wait for the next 4 on the hilltop! HOYA SAXA!!”

A talented backstroker and IMer, Haley does her club swimming with New Canaan YMCA and was the 200 back runner-up at Connecticut Seniors in March. She recorded eight top-10 finishes at the CIY Holiday Invitational and competed at YMCA Nationals last summer.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.14
  • 100 back – 56.02
  • 200 back – 2:01.26
  • 200 IM – 2:06.84
  • 400 IM – 4:30.53

Also competing for New Canaan High School, she was finished second in the 100 back and 10th in the 500 free as a junior at the Connecticut State Open Championships.

Even with just over a year of club swimming still to go before arriving in D.C., Haley will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Hoyas as a member of the class of 2025. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 100 back and 200 back as well as the B-final of the 200 IM and 400 IM at the 2020 Big East Championships where Georgetown finished second overall in the team standings.
