Gators Start 2025 Recruiting With Verbal From World Junior Champ Lynsey Bowen

NEW COMMIT: The University of Florida has kickstarted its Class of 2025 recruiting by landing a big verbal commitment from Lynsey Bowen of Carmel, Indiana.

Bowen won gold as part of Team USA’s 4x200m free relay at the 2023 World Junior Championships this past summer. She also finished sixth in the 800m free.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Florida! Thank you to my family, teammates, and coaches who have supported me along the way!! Go Gators!!!💙🧡🐊”

Bowen, who does her club swimming with the elite Carmel Swim Club, won the 800m free at Junior Nationals after placing 18th in that event at Phillips 66 Nationals. Back in December, she earned bronze in the 500 free while also taking fourth in the 200 free at Juniors East.

In SCY, her best times include:

  • 100 free – 51.01
  • 200 free – 1:45.30
  • 500 free – 4:40.69
  • 1000 free – 10:03.14
  • 1650 free – 16:19.60
  • 200 back – 1:58.61
  • 200 fly – 2:03.01

In LCM, her best times include:

  • 100m free – 56.22
  • 200m free – 1:59.82
  • 400m free – 4:11.97
  • 800m free – 8:33.71
  • 200m back – 2:15.13
  • 200m fly – 2:13.61

Currently a junior, Bowen has been part of the legendary Carmel High School’s dominance. She won the 200 and 500 free at the Indiana State Championships as a sophomore, taking first and fourth, respectively, in those events during her rookie campaign.

Bowen is a huge addition for the Gators, as she’s already fast enough to score at the NCAA Championship level in the 500 free — even with two years left of club swimming to go.
