NEW COMMIT: The University of Florida has recently gained a big verbal commitment for the fall of 2021 from in-state standout Olivia Peoples of Jacksonville, Fla.

She will also join Anna Auld, Mary Kate KelleyMicayla CronkBrooke Zettel, and Georgia Bates in Gainesville as a member of the class of 2025.

Peoples does her club swimming with Bolles School Sharks and owns three Summer National standards. She placed eighth in the 100m breast this past summer at Greensboro Futures after taking sixth in the 50m fly at Gainesville Sectionals. Last winter, she earned a best time at Juniors East before going on to secure bronze in the 100 breast at the Florida Spring Championships.

A current junior at Allen D. Nease Senior High School, Peoples is a six-time Florida 4A/3A State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American most recently set a new Florida state record in the 100 fly and took silver in the 100 breast. She also won the 100 breast and was the 200 IM runner-up during her sophomore season while placing first and fourth, respectively, in those events as a freshman.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 52.73
  • 100 breast – 1:01.94
  • 200 breast – 2:15.26
  • 200 IM – 2:03.17

Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Gators, Peoples will make an immediate impact both individually and on medley relays. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 fly at the 2019 SEC Championships and her best time in that event is already fast enough for an NCAA ‘B’ standard for the 2019-20 season.
