Gator Divers Continue To Dominate SEC Diving Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala, January 27. FLORIDA juniors Nicole Bolt (Orlando, Fla.) and Zach Wilcox (Yarrow Point, Wash.) were named the Southeastern Conference Divers of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Wilcox, who was selected the men's diver of the week, posted four NCAA zone qualifying scores and won three events last weekend as Florida split with Alabama and No. 1 Auburn. Against the Crimson Tide, Wilcox won both the one-meter and the three-meter for the sixth time this season. He won the one-meter with a score of 309.07 and the three-meter with a mark of 354.47. Against the Tigers, Wilcox won the one-meter with a season-best score of 350.32 and took second on the three-meter with a score of 335.32.

This is the first SEC Diver of the Week honor for Wilcox this season and the second award in his career. Wilcox was named SEC Diver of the Week Feb. 12, 2002.

Bolt, who was named the women's diver of the week, Versus No. 1 Auburn, Bolt took first place on the one-meter with a score of 315.00, her third consecutive meet of posting higher than 300. Bolt has posted 300-plus scores on the three-meter in four of her last five meets. She now has seven NCAA Diving Zones qualifying scores in only eight attempts. She finished third on the one-meter vs. the Tigers with a score of 266.09, which also is a zones qualifying score, bringing her total qualifying scores on the one-meter to seven in eight attempts.

This season six Gator swimmers and divers have been named athletes of the week by the SEC.
