NEW COMMIT: Futures qualifier Teigen Detta of Bellingham, Wash. has announced her commitment to Southern Illinois University and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m super excited to be joining the SIU family! I can’t wait to see what the future holds, and I know the support and culture at SIU will be unmatched and allow me to continue to grow as a swimmer and person! GO DAWGS!”

A talented sprinter, Detta does her club swimming with Bellingham Bay Swim Team and last competed at the Washington Open where she earned a best time after finaling in the 100 free at the Husky Invitational. In Summer 2019, she sprinted to 10th in the 100m free at Pacific Northwest LCM Seniors before going on to race three events at Mount Hood Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free: 52.68

She is currently a senior at Mount Baker High School where she holds a 3.82 GPA and is a team captain with Bellingham Bay Swim Team.

Detta will be a valuable asset when she arrives in Carbondale as a member of the Class of 2025. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100/200 free at the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Championships where the Salukis finished second overall in the team standings under head coach Geoff Hanson.
