NEW COMMIT: Elmhurst, Ill. native Jay Jensen has announced his commitment to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and will join the Panthers as a member of the class of 2024.

Jensen swims year-round with Hinsdale Swim Club for coach Scott Erdman and capped off his summer season by finishing 12th in the 400m IM at Minneapolis Sectionals where he also achieved four best times. Last winter, he finished eighth in the mile and 10th in the 400 IM at Illinois Seniors before going on to race seven events at NCSAs. Also competing for York High School, Jensen raced the 200 IM and 500 free at the Illinois State Championships during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

“I am happy to announce that I will be continuing my academic and swimming career at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends who have helped me get here. I would like to thank Coach Clements and Coach Hallam for giving me this opportunity. I am excited to see what I can do at UWM and the next 4 years.”

His best times include:

  • 200 IM – 1:54.51
  • 400 IM – 4:05.04
  • 100 free – 48.04
  • 200 free – 1:42.56
  • 500 free – 4:41.32
  • 1000 free – 9:44.01
  • 1650 free – 16:17.89

When he suits up for the Panthers at the start of the 2020-21 season, Jensen will make an immediate impact as his best times are already near the top of their lineup. He would’ve placed in the B-final of the 400 IM at the 2019 Horizon League Championships and is just shy of scoring range in his other top events.
