Futures Qualifier Blakely Dean of Quest Swimming Selects Towson University

NEW COMMIT: Futures qualifier Blakely Dean of Chester, Va. has pledged his verbal commitment to Towson University and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021.

He told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to Towson University to continue both my swimming and academic career. Thank you to my coaches, friends, and family for getting me to where I am today. #gotigers”

A talented freestyler and butterflyer, Dean trains year-round with Quest Swimming and most recently placed eighth in the 1000 free and 10th in the mile at Virginia Seniors in March. In summer 2019, he earned five best times at Virginia LCM Seniors before going on to post four top-15 finishes at TYR Summer Seniors.

His best times include:

200 free – 1:43.67
500 free – 4:40.49
1000 free – 9:35.75
1650 free – 16:02.36
200 fly – 1:53.68

Also competing for Matoaca High School, Dean is a three-time Virginia 5A State Championship finalist. He placed seventh in both the 100 fly and 200 free as a junior while taking 12th in the 500 free during his sophomore season.

Dean will add valuable depth when he arrives on campus as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2025. His best time would’ve placed sixth at the 2020 Colonial Athletic Association Conference Championships where Towson finished fourth overall in the team standings.
