NEW COMMIT: Signal Mountain, Tenn. breaststroker Will Tippett has announced his verbal commitment to Queens University of Charlotte and will arrive on campus as a member of the class of 2024.

Tippett swims year-round with Baylor Swim Club and most recently placed 20th in the 100m breast at Greensboro Futures this past summer after racing to eighth in the 50m breast at the Southeastern LCM Championships. Last winter, he raced five events at NCSAs where he achieved a trio of best times.

Also competing for Baylor School, Tippett is a three-time TISCA State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed ninth in the 100 breast and 12th in the 50 free as a junior after finishing 10th in the former event during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

“After 7 years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Queens University of Charlotte. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, teachers, and teammates for supporting me. I cannot wait to be a part of the Royal family. GO ROYALS!!”

His best times include:

  • 50 breast – 27.21
  • 100 breast – 58.75
  • 200 breast – 2:09.50
  • 200 IM – 2:04.05

When he suits up for the Royals at the start of the 2020-21 season, Tippett will add his talents to a breaststroke group led by Justin LawrenceJan Delkeskamp and Tyler Bowersox. Last year, Queens secured the program’s fifth-straight NCAA DII Championship title.
